Can AI tell whether a stadium is safe?
No. AI can support observation of defined conditions, but it cannot certify safety or replace competent planning, stewarding and incident management. A model sees only its inputs and may miss important physical or organisational factors.
Read about accountable judgement →Does counting require facial recognition?
No. Aggregate counting can be designed without identifying faces. Source footage may still contain personal data and requires appropriate assessment and controls. Avoiding identification reduces some risks; it does not remove every data-protection obligation.
Why do ticket scans and camera counts differ?
They can measure different events, populations, boundaries and time windows. Rejected scans, re-entry and unobserved routes can also affect totals. Align the definitions before interpreting a discrepancy as an error.
Follow the admission boundary →Is a density estimate the same as an occupancy estimate?
No. Density relates people to a defined area. Occupancy estimates the population inside a boundary at a stated time. A local density estimate does not describe the distribution of people across an entire stadium.
Compare the terminology →Can spare capacity justify admitting more people?
A dashboard estimate cannot authorise additional admissions. Decisions must follow applicable capacity conditions, venue plans and authorised management arrangements. Apparent spare space does not establish that access, circulation or exit arrangements can accommodate more people.
What makes a crowd model unreliable?
Occlusion, lighting, camera movement, changed layouts, incomplete coverage and conditions outside validation can reduce reliability. Error may vary across locations and event phases. A single headline accuracy figure rarely describes the whole deployment.
Does no alert mean no problem?
No. A system may miss a condition, lack coverage or have stale data. Absence of an alert is not proof that a route is clear. Source health and local observations should remain visible in the operational picture.
Read the spaces between destinations →How should a venue assess a supplier's accuracy claim?
Ask about the measured task, test conditions, error definitions, independent reference counts, coverage and performance in local conditions. Check whether results include busy transitions, challenging views and missed detections, not only clear examples selected for a demonstration.
Can I report a live crowd incident here?
No. This is an educational publication, not a monitoring or reporting service. Use the venue's official assistance channels and follow authorised staff instructions. Our contact tool prepares text locally and does not transmit an incident report.
